My craft list from last month was very overly ambitious, which is pretty much how I plan everything. One minute I’m thinking of getting a cat and the next minute I’m trying to decide the best way to build the best possible scratching post/jungle gym/play thing that I’ve seen cat-people own. OK, that might be overdramatic (read: I am thinking of getting a cat, but I haven’t actually thought about building a cat jungle gym.)

And I actually only accomplished one thing on the list. Or half of one.

  • CHECK!Super secret mother’s day projects One mother’s day project for my mom that involved needles and thread and pictures of animals.

But I am trying to work on the others with some minor modifications. Let’s review.

  • Super secret project for a family member that I can’t talk about for fear that she might read this blog, but it involves needles and thread and words a really great quote in a fun design (by me) that I plan to iron onto a square. This is due by May 31 according to the project coordinator, so I, uh, should probably buy iron-on printer paper or whatever.
  • The other mother’s day project that now has turned into my boyfriend’s mom’s birthday present, since I couldn’t even finish my mom’s project in time to mail for Mother’s Day. Fortunately, Liz’s birthday isn’t until late July, so I think I can do this. I HAVE PICTURES TO PROVE MY PROGRESS.
  • mounting and hanging all the discount art I bought with my tax refund money on my living room wall. Still debating the merits of putting up shelves and then leaning the art on that, but it seems like a lot of shelves of varying sizes on a very big wall.
  • mounting and hanging posters I have moved with since high school on my dining room wall.
  • making a city names poster, inspired by this, also for the dining room wall
  • mapping projects of Murrieta, Columbia, Peoria, Pittsburgh and Ligonier inspired by this, also for the dining room wall
  • quote project for bedroom art, inspired by this.
  • find color and paint bedroom This has moved up in priority, but all the art/mounting/decorating projects have been put on hold because my boyfriend has tentative plans to move into my apartment and he has his own art and posters and things, and I want him to have space to put things up too. So I think come August we’re going to decide what to do with our collective collections and decorate together. (Also come August we’re getting a cat. Really guys, it’s a real plan, sans jungle gym.) Anyway, I’d really like to get the bedroom painted before he moves all his shit furniture in.
  • figure out what to plant and what will survive in a collection of salsa, pasta sauces, and other pretty glass jars I’ve been collecting on my windowsill, inspired by this. MORE PICTURE PROOF. Also, I might just plant an herb garden in these jars, inspired by this.
  • Also, guys, I have two impossible decorating conundrums with which I need serious help. I’ll post pictures of both and see if my amazing friends can dream up a solution that I’ve been spending the better part of two years trying to figure out. I should probably actually post pictures of these things in order to get help.

Added to the list include:

  • Making this homemade spiced rum
  • Coming up with something awesome to make for dinner this week.
